Dominating most of your list of fastest-growing jobs is the medical/dental field. Not at all surprising. By the year 2017 there will be a shortage of thousands of RN's. Nurse aides, health care aides, personal support workers are in huge demand and that demand is growing all the time. There is an easy explanation for it:
(1) aging baby boomers who are into their middle aged years and some are well beyond
(2) great medical technology and medicines are keeping people alive a lot longer

While the latter is a blessing it is bitter sweet if we can't find enough people to fill the roles needed to care for our seniors.

Which makes my career change make even more sense ; )

They're mostly health-related careers and in particular related to the aging Baby Boomer population and their needs.

Right! They also require proximity. These are jobs that can not be outsourced over-seas. They require the worker to be physically present to perform the work. Thanks for your comment!
