I am a big fan of Brendon Burchard. He’s the author of Life’s Golden Ticket and he tells the story of how he was in a car wreck and almost died. And he realized how short life is. At the time, he was still in college, but that experience changed him and matured him.

Pretty inspirational, right?

Well, despite having read the book and even watched some of his videos, I didn’t doanything with the knowledge and wisdom he was imparting to me.

Until one day when I got an email offering me a free ticket to one of his live 4-day seminars in Santa Clara. I went.

And I listened. At first, I saw all the people dancing around and cheering and, I’ll admit, I totally rolled my eyes at them. But a part of me began to pick up on the fact that despite his fan-boys and fan-girls, he really genuinely cares.

And that feeling of knowing that someone – this expert – cares, was truly transformational. (Okay, so by the end I was dancing around like a fan-boy too, but still …)  The information he was sharing suddenly was a lot easier to understand. Not just that, but it was easier to feel motivated to actually apply the principles.

All of this is to say that there is a vibe when you meet a coach or a trainer or a leader in person. There is something in their eyes. Something in how their presence communicates their passion to help you.

If you’ve read an author, go hear them speak if you can. If you read articles you like in this career blog, research the author and find out where their next gig is. You might even call or email them.

Think of it this way. If I write an article telling you to do three things to help your online reputation for your career, you may or may not do them. You might do the first one and think the other two are stupid. You might think they were all great ideas, and then read the next article, and then the next one, eventually forgetting my words.

But if we were in a room together, and we did those three things together, and you could ask questions, and I had a chance to elaborate – and we felt each other, and you saw and sensed that I really cared whether or not you did these things and got a job … don’t you think you’d progress faster on your job search?

Well, now you’ll have that chance! I’m going on tour and I may be coming to your city. And I want to meet you.

Here’s the plan. I’m reaching out to job search support clubs and speaking to their groups for free. I’ll have books and DVDs for sale of course, but the content is going to blow you away!

Please take a look at my 2012 Job Club Tour Schedule HERE, and if you want to book me, please email my assistant Jay at [email protected]

I hope to see you soon!
