Watch This Video to Find Out What Steps Kathy Took to Get her Job

Kathy has been a subscriber to Career Enlightenment for a few months. Recently, she leveraged what she learned about social media job seeking to get a very nice offer. She starts next week.

So I thought I would interview Kathy and find out exactly how it went down.

Watch our interview here:

Kathy’s Method for Finding a Job

Let’s summarize exactly how Kathy got her job

  1. She stayed current and watched her daily LinkedIn network updates
  2. She built her network before she needed it
  3. She identified and appliedĀ  for a job using SimplyHired.com
  4. Simply Hired told her who she already knew who worked at that company
  5. So she asked her LinkedIn contact to pass on her application to the proper person

Bam.

Her resume got put on the top of the pile and special attention was made for her.

Kathy was quickly interviewed and will start her position in one week.

Join me in celebrating Kathy’s success and in thanking her for sharing her method.

What do you think? Is this something you might do differently this week?

Josh thank you so much for sharing this success story. I purchased 15 copies of Job Searching with Social Media for Dummies as a gift for a team of employees who were just laid off...along with me, at the end of the year. I recently subscribed to Career Enlightenment and look forward to using your methods to help me land my next dream job. Great book! Fabulous website. ; > Inspiring story.

svmonson Hi Su, wow! I'm so flattered by this. Thank you so much! And welcome to the new breed of social media job seeker. Your employees are lucky to have someone like you during their outplacement.

Josh - thanks for sharing Kathy's story. It's inspiring to hear it. It's helpful to hear that using LinkedIn to develop real relationships really works!

I guess I knew that, but it always helps to have it confirmed.

There's nothing like a real life example.

I believe Kathy is quit smart to handle this skills to get the job, but the most important thing is she keep DOING not just waiting.

Yes, Kathy didn't sit on her haunches. She took action based on a solid strategy. I think breaking things down into smaller chunks makes it easier for us to act.

Lisa,

SH integrates with LinkedIn, so the data about who works there is based on your LinkedIn network. Pretty cool stuff!

Yes this article and interview are very impressive. I did NOT know that simplyhired would give people information on who worked there?? how does that work anyway? I have used SH but never seen that before.

You just need to Login using LinkedIn and SH will pull your network's data.
