In this Infographic I found on UNC’s Online MBA website, several interesting stats stood out for me:
- 64% of millennials ask about a company’s social media policy during a job interview. This is funny, b/c many companies have very little clarity around this, or they are unnecessarily strict.
- 24% of millennials say that the answer to the previous question will influence their interest in that company. Which means recruiters who work for companies with big-brother, puritanical social media policies are pushing up-hill.
Facebook is the modern day smoke break. Managers, please loosen the leash a little bit.
I had a boss who used to ask how many apps the candidate had on their phone. The more apps, the more tech savvy. The more tech savvy, the better they are going to be at the job.
Some other stat’s below include:
- Millennials prioritized “meaningful work” over high pay.
- 1 in 3 millennials said “social media freedom” is a higher priority than salary.
- 70% of millennials are planning to change jobs once the economy improves.
awesome infographic i lie it 🙂 also you have define great info….
I love the information in this infographic. The Millennial generation is its own breed in a way, different than the ones before. In the workplace this can cause a few misconceptions and contention. Educating Millennials and their managers on the differences in values between the generations can make them be aware and help them develop skills to accommodate each other. The company I work for is studying the challenges Millennials and their managers are seeing in the workplace. We have developed two free assessments that will help illustrate strengths and weaknesses with Millennials and their managers. If you are interested in taking either assessment follow the link:?http://www.redtreeleadership.com/millennials/MillennialResearch.html
Once you have completed the assessment we will email you a PDF file of your results.

“Very interesting infographic, I definitely see many of the attitudes displayed among the interns that InternMatch works with. At InternMatch we ran a survey to to graduating seniors in the class of 2012 and found that 82% of them did not have a job offer. Even more alarming, 55% of those seniors have been job searching for 3 months or more. So it comes as a bit of a surprise that 43% of millenials are very confident that they could find a job if they lost their current one. Maybe you have some insight on this? “
@JonChiehLau OH! to be young, brash and full of hope again. Maybe the’re confident they will get a job, but that doesn’t mean they will. Give them another 10 years to be jaded like me 🙂
